Project Touchdown

The Vision

Staying true to the Foundation’s mission to create sustainable solutions in order to help others help themselves, our first project was to design and build inclusive, attainable, temporary housing for those working toward a brighter future.

The Journey

And so our Journey began.   We purchased land in a beautiful, mature Edmonton community and developed a plan to build a 4-plex. We called our first initiative, Project Touchdown.

Our next step was to select a local partner, a charity that would benefit from our proposed housing project.  Terra Center for Teen Parents was the perfect fit, as Project Touchdown would fill an increasing  need facing young teen parents trying to build a better life for themselves and their children… a place to call home  while they complete their post-secondary education and eventually find employment.

The Groundbreaking Celebration in 2013 was an exciting and touching event.  Donors and supporters, Carrington Group staff and members of the Terra Center team gathered on site for the first time to see Project Touchdown  come to life, as Bedrock Homes and Carrington Construction trades stepped up to the plate, donating time, skills and materials to help give teen parents a chance to succeed.

The Celebration

Our vision became a reality in 2014, when four young teen parents with children moved into their brand new homes!

The Grand Opening Celebration saw everyone involved… Carrington Group of Companies, Bedrock Homes, donors, trade partners, the Terra Center team and local government representatives share in the completion of Project Touchdown.
